City of Florence is considering expansion of Urban Growth Boundary in order to be able to provide water and sewer to a few houses, a 50-house / 50-condo golf course development, and a proposed casino. CFF opposes this expansion. The Planning Commission hearing is set for April 22, 7:00 pm, Florence City Hall.

The 486-acre Northwest Crossing is under construction by West Bend Property Co., and general manager David Ford argues the city council and groups like the Friends of Bend supported the project "because they see it as the application of smart growth."
