    Public Ethics

CFF often receives questions about what the "rules" are about public meetings, public records, and public official's conduct. The Lane Council of Governments held a workshop for newly elected officials in March 1999. Excerpts from the handout from that meeting are reproduced here for your information, as well as information CFF researchers have gathered. The State of Oregon's web page for Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) is the best source for more detailed information. ORS Chapter 192 deals with public records, reports and meetings. ORS Chapter 244 deals with government ethics.
